Red Scooter

Carbon, fuel and flight offset
685 tonnes CO2-e

Environmentally friendly events begin with commitment and action!

Red Scooter is offsetting the company's carbon emissions by planting trees through Greenfleet's voluntary offset program. The partnership has led to 2,000 native trees being planted in Wedderburn Victoria to offset our emissions from 2005, 2006 and 2007. In 2008, we've taken it one step further by planting 2,555 trees and by working with our local community to increase the awareness of our environmental challenges.

In late 2008 Red Scooter emissions calculations were broken down into the following categories:

  • Supplier travel
  • Guest travel
  • Staff travel
  • Air travel
  • Utilities
  • Waste

The grand total for these six emissions sources came to 685 tonnes of CO2-e.
In addition to offsetting our emissions through Greenfleet, we also take the following environmental measures:

  • We offer organic menus;
  • We reinvest the money we save through energy conservation in purchasing renewable energy from GreenPower;
  • We reduce our water usage by upgrading to high efficiency equipment;
  • We enthusiastically recycle oil, cardboard, corks, glass and plastic and we ferment our organic waste in a Bokashi bin;
  • We use recycled products wherever practical e.g. toilet paper, paper towels, printer paper and printer cartridges; and
  • We trap grease and organics from entering the sewerage system and use environmentally friendly cleaning products reducing the amount of phosphorous in our sewers.

Red Scooter is committed to ensuring all areas of our business are as environmentally sustainable as possible.
