Snowy Hydro Limited is the National Electricity Market's (NEM) third largest generator by capacity and is a leading supplier of electricity and renewable energy products. We supply more than 70% of all renewable energy in the mainland NEM and by using water to generate electricity, the Snowy Mountains Scheme directly displaces around 5 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions each year - that is the equivalent to the exhaust emissions of about one million cars. We own and operate the 3,756MW Snowy Mountains hydro-electric Scheme, the 300MW Valley Power and the 320MW Laverton North gas-fired power stations both located in Victoria. In addition, we are the parent company of Red Energy, an electricity retailer selling electricity and gas direct to consumers.
