Just 1 piece of rubbish can make a difference

If every person in Australia picked up just one piece of rubbish for this 20th Clean Up Australia Day, we'd pick up ten times more rubbish than last year.

That's right, the 2009 Clean Up removed 2 million pieces of rubbish from our streets, parks, waterways and beaches - but the sad news is there's still more rubbish to pick up and our environment needs your help.

Clean Up Australia Day is taking place on Sunday 7 March, but there is also a special day for businesses and schools to do their bit too...

• 5 March - Schools Clean Up Day
• 7 March - Clean Up Australia Day

Getting involved is easy - just visit www.cleanupaustraliaday.org.au/ and register to volunteer at an existing site, or register a new clean up site near you.
