Our Forests

Growing on Boonwurrung Country, Battery Creek is one of Greenfleet’s oldest forests and has been growing for over 25 years.

Adjoining Lang Lang River in South Gippsland, this project aims to create a considerable biodiversity linkage by connecting to Greenfleet’s establishing forest at Wurneet Laang Laang. This revegetation work will provide critical habitat for the swift parrot and Strzelecki koala. It is also a restoration opportunity for the critically endangered Strzelecki gum (Eucalyptus strzeleckii), a tree species endemic to this unique area.

Located an hour north of Adelaide on the lands of the Ngarrindjeri people, the project at Bull Creek is restoring the Peppermint Box Grassy Woodland ecosystem. This critically endangered ecosystem is home to more than 70 species of birds and other wildlife, some of which are rare and endangered.

This site is just one of many that Greenfleet has revegetated in conjunction with Parks Victoria. The ongoing relationship between the two organisations has seen more than 800 hectares revegetated all across Victoria.

In 2018, Greenfleet, Telstra employees and Kowanyama Aboriginal Shire Council joined forces to plant over 1,000 native and fruit trees in the remote community of Kowanyama, Far North Queensland.

Greenfleet is growing a native forest on the floodplain of the Wilson River in Northern NSW to extend vital habitat for a breeding population of koalas and deliver climate action.

Located in Central Victoria, this site was previously cleared for grazing. Across this property, Greenfleet will be restoring Low Rise Grassy Woodland, a vegetation community listed as vulnerable. While delivering climate action, this forest will build and extend habitat for species such as the Squirrel Glider, Regent Honeyeater and Brush-tailed Phascogale.

Located in South-East Queensland on land traditionally owned by the Yuggera People, Hiddenvale is being restored to a biodiverse native forest that will enhance koala habitat in the region.

Located north-west of Brisbane, Greenfleet is restoring the riparian and floodplain ecosystems across this large property. With existing koalas confirmed on the property, this work will extend habitat for the species listed as endangered in Queensland. The native restoration along Ivory Creek will also improve water quality and reduce erosion in this section of the Brisbane River catchment.

Located in Gippsland on the lands of the Kurnai people, the project at Jumbuk will see the restoration of habitat for koalas and the white-throated needletail, a bird classified as vulnerable in the state. Other species that will benefit from this revegetation work include the long-nosed bandicoot, gang-gang cockatoo, and the greater glider which is classified as endangered.   

Between 2015 and 2016, Greenfleet planted approximately 91 kilograms of locally native seeds in the soil to give nature a helping hand.

Species that will benefit from this work include koalas, the swift parrot, gang-gang cockatoo, and greater glider, an endangered species that has been heavily impacted by land clearing. 

Located west of Cairns within the Mareeba Tropical Savanna and Wetlands Reserve, this project is re-establishing the natural ecosystem found in the region. This restoration project began in 2023 and will continue over the coming years. Species planted so far include brown salwood (Acacia mangium) and large-fruit mahogany (Eucalyptus pellita) which will be critical in forming the forest canopy.
